What are the big ticketed events?

Opening Night, Shucked, Street Eats and The World of 'Cue head the list; the Weekender Bundle groups them with a VIP Sunday.

  • Opening Night: Wednesday, March 3, 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Cistern Yard at the College of Charleston, with more than 30 local chefs, $240.35 (event page).
  • Shucked: Thursday, March 4, 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park, oysters raw, roasted and fried, $199.15 (event page).
  • Street Eats: Friday, March 5, 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Firefly Distillery in North Charleston, global street food, $178.55 (event page).
  • The Weekender Bundle: Opening Night, Shucked, Street Eats, The World of 'Cue and Culinary Village VIP on Sunday for $853.20, against $1,139.95 bought one by one (bundle page).

Two of those are off the peninsula, in Mount Pleasant and North Charleston. Budget for rideshares: the festival FAQ recommends them.

Can kids go to Charleston Wine + Food?

No. Every event is 21+, valid photo ID is required, and infants in carriers or strollers are turned away.

The festival FAQ says anyone who looks under 40 may be asked for ID. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable between events; ticket insurance covers reasons such as illness, injury or severe weather. Events go ahead rain or shine.

Traveling with children that weekend? A food walk works. The Downtown Charleston Food Tour takes ages 8 and up, and Secret Food Tours has child and youth tickets. The details are in our guide to diets and kids on food tours.

Is a food tour a good alternative during the festival?

Yes, for the days between events or for anyone under 21: a walking food tour costs about half a Culinary Village ticket.

The Culinary Village is $199.15 for three and a half hours in a stadium. The Downtown Charleston Food Tour is from $110 on Viator ($95 direct) for two and a half hours across four restaurants in the French Quarter, a meal for most. Tip and drinks are extra on the tour and included at the festival, so the real gap is smaller, but the tour keeps you downtown and the morning free.

Our pick for festival week: a food walk on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon to get your bearings, then one big festival event. Two stadium sessions in a row is a lot of eating.
